The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) invites applications for the position of Area Department Lead (ADL), Laboratory Medicine – Regina. This position offers the opportunity to influence clinical and academic excellence while living and practicing in one of Canada’s most dynamic and family-friendly provinces.
The ADL is a key member of SHA’s senior medical leadership team, reporting to the Area Chief of Staff – Regina and working closely with the Vice President/Physician Executive dyad and the Provincial Department Head. The role provides strategic, operational, and academic leadership in Laboratory Medicine across the Regina area.
For physicians currently practicing outside Saskatchewan, clinical opportunities are available in Regina to support the required licensure and practice needs. Our team can assist you in identifying clinical roles that complement your leadership duties.
Key Responsibilities
The following are key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Advance provincial healthcare priorities and execute aligned operational and business strategies.
Leadership and Culture:
Cultivate innovation, collegiality, and a client-focused organizational culture.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee clinical service delivery, quality improvement, and alignment with academic mandates.
Health System Collaboration:
Partner with local and provincial leaders in care delivery, workforce planning, and service integration.
Academic and Research Leadership:
With the Provincial Head, and in concert with the College of Medicine, the Area Department Lead will ensure that the academic mandate of the College of Medicine for teaching and research is supported within the Area.
Requirements
Job Qualifications
- Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS)
- Able to obtain and maintain membership in the medical staff of the SHA and an academic appointment in the College of Medicine
- Experience, at an operational level, as a medical leader who has worked in partnership with administrative leaders to develop innovative programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
- 5+ years in a leadership position with progressive advancement
- Has experience working in dyadic leadership roles and relationships
- Has knowledge of and experience in guiding health quality improvement processes and initiatives
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Preferred Experience:
- Canadian Certified Physician Executive Credential would be an asset.
- Advanced education in Health Care Administration, Public Administration and/or Leadership Studies would be an asset.
- Participation in the Canadian Medical Association’s Physician Leadership Institute would be an asset.
- Additional training and/or education in leadership/management would be an asset.
