As part of a team of clinical microbiologists, the successful candidate will serve as the Director of Virology, Molecular Microbiology, and Mycobacteriology at UAB Hospitals and utilize their broad clinical microbiology training to contribute to diagnostic services in all areas of clinical microbiology. In this role, this individual will either have already established national/international recognition in virology or mycobacteriology or exhibit significant potential and motivation to establish an academic career in these fields. Teaching responsibilities include medical students, residents, and fellows. Given UAB Hospitals location within the heart of UAB’s downtown Birmingham campus, opportunities exist to teach throughout the UAB system.
Unique research opportunities for an academic clinical virologist and mycobacteriologist at UAB include: 1.
