Description
Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector, in partnership with the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology, University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a qualified Fulltime Pediatric Pathologist. The successful applicant may also be considered for an academic appointment with the University of Alberta’s Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology.
The successful candidate will provide medical reporting and consultation for Pediatric Pathology cases and work closely with clinicians in pediatrics, oncology, transplantation, neurology, obstetrics, critical care, and surgery. The pediatric pathologist will diagnose diseases that occur during fetal growth, infancy, and child development. The practice requires a strong foundation in general pathology and substantial understanding of normal growth and development, along with extensive knowledge of pediatric medicine. Clinical duties will also include offering medical oversight to technical and regulatory processes and procedures, including quality assurance, and occurrence management. The successful candidate will maintain the highest possible standards of practice.
APL is a publicly funded wholly owned subsidiary corporation of Alberta Health Services (AHS) and is party to an affiliation agreement with the University of Alberta (UofA).
Requirements
Qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta, and certification in Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology/General Pathology and a Pediatric Pathology fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology, or equivalence as recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
